The contradiction
A reception entry places K. Watanabe / 4417 inside Kokushi headquarters on 14 August 1986. His last recorded access is 02:14.
A personnel extract from the same night classes him as a departure irregularity. An External Relations record says his remains were retained on site.
A household monitoring log says he returned home at 02:40.
Monitoring logs continue to reference 4417 active for years after the personnel file ends.
Different documents use 4417 as an employee number, an access designation and an “active participant” identifier. One uses 4417-B.
The drawing
A folded sheet left on the reception desk. On the front, a rough sketch of the HQ tower. On the back, in Watanabe’s handwriting:

The signature matches 4417. Whoever it was written for went anyway.
Why this case matters
Most Kokushi stories are rumours searching for evidence.
Watanabe is the reverse: a small collection of documents that becomes stranger the more carefully you compare them.
This is the case that made me stop treating Floor 14 as office folklore.
The 4417 series
If you are new here, read these in order. Each file was received separately, and none of the senders appear to know each other.
- The Model Room Visitor Book: an entry that wasn’t there the first time it was photographed.
- The 02:11 Call: a phone call from a floor that doesn’t exist, and a second voice.
- ER-4417-D: what External Relations wrote down at 03:40.
- Household 4417-B: what the house heard at 02:40.
- 4416 · 4417 · 4418: why I no longer think this is about one man.
Several readers have written to say they found the rest on a disc. I can’t confirm the disc exists. I can confirm that everyone who mentions it describes the same lift.
