Reading it
Departure is not a word Kokushi uses for leaving the building. In every other file I hold, it means leaving the company.
Remains: retained on site reads like a body. Everything else on the page reads like a promotion. The record does not say he died. It says he was reassigned.
The lift authorisation was partly redacted before it reached me. EX-ER-88 said facilities codes were “the number, then the floor.”
The letterhead
The page is on standard External Relations letterhead. Across the top, in the same 1986 typeface as everything else, is a web address:
KOKUSHI CORPORATION · WWW.KOKUSHICORPORATION.COM
In 1986 there was no web. Kokushi didn’t register that domain until decades later. I have checked the paper with a loupe: the line wasn’t added afterwards. It was printed with the rest.
What it doesn’t explain
If Watanabe was retained on 14 at 02:14, who did the household log record coming home at 02:40?
The same reference, ER-4417-D, appears on the 02:11 transcript and in a Personnel file that tells the reader to “consult External Relations”. Three departments, one file number.
