Why it matters

Sources describe Floor 14’s records room as one wall of identical drawers. Every label blank. Nobody remembers opening one.
They couldn’t have. They were painted.
The hinged section is a door. I don’t know where it led. The workshop’s former owner told me only that the client asked for the paint to “stand up to a hand pressed flat against it, many times.”
The workshop’s ledger has a second order from the same client, for an identical flat, in 1998. Same dimensions, same hinged section, same blank labels. You don’t rebuild a door unless someone wore the first one out.
