The records
Surviving nursery forms record blood type, sleep, handedness, fears, attachment behaviour, drawing tests, language development, recall performance and responses to unfamiliar adults.
Several children are identified primarily by numbers. Four surviving files list guardians who cannot be matched to known Kokushi employees.
One form includes the phrase ROLE IMITATION: HIGH.
The cloning theory
The claim began with an anonymous 1998 submission alleging that measurements from a 1970s nursery record reappeared in an adult personnel assessment two decades later.
Later researchers added claims involving facial ratios, blood typing, preference profiles and scars.
None of this independently proves cloning.
The less spectacular interpretation is still disturbing: Kokushi may have maintained childhood behavioural and biological baselines for later adult comparison.
